An-Nasir Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub (1137-1193), more commonly known as Saladin, was the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria and the first ruler of the Ayyubid Dynasty. Just and generous at heart, he was a worthy nemesis to King Richard the Lionheart during the Third Crusade, and now hopes to find another equal in the Dragonborn.

Saladin uses the vanilla follower system and thus should be seamlessly compatible with any follower framework mod. He is able to be married, and favors swords, shields and bows in combat. Like all my custom followers, he is marked as essential; he uses the MaleEvenToned voice and the vanilla Redguard race.
By default, he wears his custom-made robed cuirass with a turban from Bobs Armory and a pair of vanilla Leather Boots, and wields a Lapis Scimitar, Ebony Redguard Shield and the Redguard Bow. His equipment can be obtained via console commands through “
help "Sultan"“, and can be regularly tempered at Workbenches and Grindstones.
Saladin can be found in Riften near Mistveil Keep, in the courtyard where Harrald and Riften Guards train. He can be recruited immediately and levels with the player up to level 500.

Saladin’s outfit is based on his design in the mobile game Rise of Kingdoms. The game’s overall art style is quite goofy and cartoonish, which I usually don’t particularly like, but I find Saladin’s design highly aesthetically appealing.
I created Saladin’s cuirass by combining the vanilla monk robes and a piece of the Expert robes with Tullius’s Scalemail from Byzantine Imperials. It took a long time until I got Blender to play nice and the entire process was an enormous pain in the butt, so I am especially proud of it.
The cuirass does not support weight sliders due to my limited modeling skills. (I’m starting a modeling course very soon, and once I get myself some l33t sk1llz, you can bet I’ll be churning out new mods like no tomorrow.)
The optional .esp can be safely merged with Saladin.esp to save a load order spot.

Illustrious HDT Cloaks of Skyrim:
Creating this mod has sparked my curiosity and led me to learn more about Islam and the medieval Islamic world. Being raised Catholic, very little on these topics was taught in my school, unfortunately. :c
– – – Known Issues – – –
Visual – On male characters, the back of the head clips through the turban. Since the author of Bobs Armory does not allow users to distribute modifications of their assets, there is nothing I can do about this.
Visual – For the same reason, the turban’s coloration will not be exactly the same as in the screenshots.
Visual – When using the HDT cloak, Saladin will occasionally turn invisible due to a native HDT Physics Extensions bug. To fix this temporarily, remove the cloak from his inventory, allow his model to load in and then return it, or otherwise get him to unequip and re-quip it. There is no known permanent fix for the underlying bug, though HDT Invisibility Fix[/url] may cause it to happen less frequently.
